That Rear Admiral Marathe of
The French Navy arrived here in his flag Ship Descartes
The 23rd July, and at once proceeded to Canton to inspect the five French Gunboats at anchor at that city. He returned on the 28th and
remained
till the 29th.
Judging that he was going to Shanghai and proposing to start on the morning of The
8th (Chambalain ?). Stating potato for.
